I watch the Puppy Bowl every year; it's usually more interesting than the Super Bowl. Loved the corgi who stood under the goal post and barked at any dog that tried to get a drink of water. Poor thing.
The whole thing with Cornelius the corgi guarding the end zone was funny (at the time), but it also showed that he was feeling very insecure. I don't think he was guarding the water so much as not wanting to play with the other dogs. Abigail the Jack Russell attacking the water bowl was probably because of the light and camera underneath the glass. They're just dogs, folks. That's what dogs do.
