Yankees 3, Blue Jays 2 (10)

Just the sort of win to give you hope.

Unlike my other favorite team, the Astros, who broke from the break by losing four straight and essentially end their season (there are precisely two reasons to continue watching the Astros: the competent work of Carlos Lee and the sparkling play of rookie Hunter Pence, both of whom homered last night), the Yanks have given us reason to suspect the season will have some meaning after all.

Tying in the 9th on a balk and then "Torre Small-Ball" to win it in the 10th reminds me of Yankee clubs circa 1996-2001. One game I know...but still....

Now the question....Farnsworth...what do the Yanks do with that train-wreck of a pitcher? Trade for a set-up guy if the Yanks play .750 ball up to the deadline?

The wins need to come fast and furious now. A stretch with the Tribe at LAA followed by Boston looms in Aug.

The only hope for the Yanks is in the minors. Hughes will have a bigger impact than Clemens and I hear from my boy Peter Gammons that there are two more bullpen arms waiting for their day in pinstripes, effectively giving Farnsworth his walking papers(That part is my opinion).

Still no Paul O'Niell or David Justice clones in sight.

The Yanks still have a ray of hope... darnit!

Yes...Hughes had wicked stuff when he came up in May. "...this kid is a Warlock"-Gammons (or something like that)

Funny thing is the Yanks might make a move for a bat at the deadline instead of an arm. Like maybe Da Meathook! Some overpriced bat out of Texas? Man I miss a Justice/Chili-Dog Davis type bat sitting on the bench.

I'm not sure what was better tonight. Watching the Yanks comeback win or watching the Red Sox lose to the Royals at home...AGAIN! God love MLB Extra Innings.....
